Undergraduate scholarship programs at GJU

Call for Applications for students who are starting their German Year in the second semester 2023/24 (called summer term 2024 in German) is now open! 

 

Please note: In case your German Year starts in the first semester 2024/2025 (called winter term in German), you can apply in approx. September/ October 2024, not now. The batch now refers to the people who are starting their German Year now. 

 

Background of the Scholarships

The German Jordanian University was founded as a bi-national University on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research Germany and the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research Jordan. The German government provides several funds to support and sustain the development of the GJU. A part of the funds is dedicated to scholarships for GJU students. The scholarships are funded by the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences with funds from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Types of Scholarships for undergraduate students 
German Year Scholarships 

Outgoings of the second semester 2023/24 (called summer term in German): Please have your German Language Certificate (B1, B2 or above) uploaded and approved on MYGJU until the 5th of Mai 2024! Accepted are: Goethe, ÖSD, GJUDaF, B2-Track Sprachzertifikat

 

Funding

Funding is provided for the study semester of the German Year: 934,00 Euro/month. 

It will be paid for six months, for the summer term March until August. 

Additionally, a one-time travel allowance is given: 850 Euro. Subject to allocation of funds by the donor.

Please note students will not get selected automatically, but will have to apply.

Criteria

Eligibility Criteria

General GPA of 80 or higher and an official and complete B1 Certificate with all parts passed (ONLY Goethe, OESD, GJUDaF, B2-Track Sprachzertifikat). 

Additional Selection Criteria

Students who obtained an official B2 (or above) certificate with all parts passed before leaving to Germany will receive a bonus of 20 points (out of 100).

Selection

An independent Scholarship Committee is selecting the scholarship holders. Depending on the data available, the selection process might continue even if the semester has already started.

Duration

One semester-long (the study semester of the German Year).

Extension

Due to the nature of this scholarship, no extension is possible.

Eligibility

In general, all regularly enrolled undergraduate students at GJU are eligible. For the German Year scholarships, only the students meeting all requirements for leaving to Germany are eligible. German Citizens are excluded and cannot receive funds. 

Scholarship holders of Jordanian national scholarships are eligible if their scholarships exclusively cover semester fees and no mobility to Germany. Additionally, please note that only students who do not receive any other scholarships will be considered for the German Year scholarships. Only complete applications will be considered.  

After the deadline the applications will be reviewed by a committee. The initial results are planned to be communicated to the candidates in the week starting from 12.05.2024.

After, there will be an appeal phase of 48 hours. Only appeals sent in the phase and to io.queries@gju.edu.jo will be considered. Disclaimer: IAD is executing the selection procedure on best knowledge according GJU regulation and according available mobilities. In case of changes of budget at the side of the partners, proven mistakes from side of IAD, untruthful provided data from students or involved parties, wrong data displayed at MYGJU etc. the scholarship can be withdrawn. Taking into consideration the limited number, availability and due to the Criteria, the University GJU does NOT, by any means, guarantee that the applicant will be awarded the scholarship or the grant.
