The International Affairs Department (IAD) welcomed the new Incoming students for Spring Semester 2023 on Thursday, 23 February 2023. This semester we are happy to welcome 25 exchange students from different nationalities. Also, GJU is welcoming this semester 9 Incoming students, who are studying the Social Work diploma.

These exchange students are coming from 17 different partner universities in Germany and one from Switzerland. Our self-payer students are from universities in Germany, Jordan, USA, Malaysia and the Netherlands. There are 17 Bachelor students, 4 Master students and 13 Diploma students (BA., MA.).    12 students will study at the Main Campus in Al-Mushaqqar and 22 at SABE Campus in Amman.

Ms. Iris Wildfeuer, the Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department, started the welcome meeting with a warm introduction. The Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Reiner Finkeldey, and the Dean of the DSA, Dr. Thelal Qwies gave short speeches and useful advice about studying at GJU and living in Jordan. Sara Hussain from the Social Work Department also introduced herself and explained the different Social Work programs, then all students introduced themselves shortly, before having a short Coffee Break.

In the second part of the meeting, a 2-hour “Kennenlern Runde” as well as a “Intercultural Training Session”, were given by the Incoming Coordinators at the IAD, Mr. Rakan Dweiri and Ms. Sarah Ababneh. They talked about the culture and values of Jordanians in an interactive way. Followed by discussions with students about intercultural issues, where many examples and real-life situations were explained.
