This year’s network meeting of the School of Logistics and Management took place at FH Würzburg-Schweinfurt, hosted by network speaker Prof. Dr. Alexander Steinmetz of FHWS and supported by his colleague and network speaker  Prof. Dr. Ralf-Christian Härting from HS Aalen. The event took place from 22nd to 23rd of September 2022. The dean of GJU`s business school, Dr. Muhannad Atmeh, joint the meeting together with SMLS`s exchange coordinators Dr. Serena Sandri (Logistics), Dr. Ahmad Abu Dawleh (International Accounting) and Dr. Fathi Alarabi Yosef (Management).

The network coordinator Iris Wildfeuer from the International Affairs Department was also present and supported by Project Office Magdeburg representative Ms. Julia Kölbel.

The different German partner universities such as HS Fulda, DHBW Mannheim, FH Lübeck, TH Lübeck and HS Kempten were represented  in person to join the discussions.

After some welcoming words by the host representative Prof. Dr. Axel Bialek, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and an introduction of all participants, Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey GJUs Vice President for International Affairs, started the meeting with some updates that GJU had undergone since 2021.

Brief department updates were then presented by the school with special focus on updates in “Forensic accounting” by Dr. Muhannad Atmeh and the new study program, BIDA (Business Intelligence & Data Analytics) by Dr. Fathi Yosef. In succession the Exchange Coordinators presented the existing SMLS Research Clusters in “Green Energy and Entrepreneurship” and in management sciences.

Various discussions followed on research collaboration and partner acquisition as well as on methods to increase incoming student numbers at GJU.

The second day of the meeting begun with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Bauer (HS Kempten) on his short films in support of student preparation for the German Year. Further presentations by network speaker Dr. Ralf Härting on Learning Nuggets and the topic of Cyber Security followed and let to more discussions between the network members. Teaching trends and future opportunities of joint digital teaching methods were an underlying topic throughout the two-day meeting at FHWS.

The network members were further able to participate in an industry visit to “Va-Q-tec AG” an international production company of high-end thermal insulation systems in Würzburg on the second day of the 2022 network meeting.
