Biography

My name is Adnan Al Lahham, Prof in Microbiology, academic and researcher at the school of Applied Medical Sciences at the German Jordanian University (GJU) in Amman, Jordan. I am recognized for my extensive contributions to medical microbiology and vaccine research. I have my Ph.D. in Biology / Microbiology (Feb 1998) from RWTH Aachen University in Germany (supported by a DAAD scholarship) focussing on yeast genetics, where i have published a new gene in yeast. My Professional Experience as Professor / Faculty Member (2006 – Present): SAMS, GJU-Amman, Jordan.

Educational Background

Ph.D. in Biology / Microbiology (Feb 1998) – RWTH Aachen University in Germany
M.Sc. in Biology / Microbiology (1989) – Yarmouk University, Jordan.
B.Sc. in Public Health-Nutrition (1985) – Yarmouk University, Jordan.
Research Interests

Medical Microbiology focussing on: Epidemiology, molecular capsular serotyping, and carriage dynamics of mainly Streptococcus pneumoniae and other Streptococcal species. Then, antimicrobial Resistance: Mechanisms and surveillance of antibiotic resistance patterns among respiratory and invasive bacterial isolates. Then Vaccine Surveillance and evaluating the impact and coverage of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs). Finally, pathogen transmission and potential extra-human/animal reservoirs of bacterial infections.
