The German Jordanian University (GJU) welcomed a high-level delegation from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The delegation included Mr. Bill McQuade, ASHRAE Global President; Eng. Basel Anbari, Regional Chair of the Greater Region; Eng. Ala’aldeen Al-Sweiti, President of ASHRAE Jordan Chapter; and Eng. Ghassan Al-Ali, Regional Treasurer of the Greater Region.
The delegation was received by Prof. Iyas Khader, Vice President for Academic Excellence; Prof. Ayman Al-Share, Dean of the School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS) and the School of Sustainable Systems Engineering (SSSE); Prof. Sameer Al-Dahidi, Head of the Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering Department; and Eng. Mohammad Al-Shimi, President of the ASHRAE Student Branch at GJU and Chair of the Student Activities Committee of ASHRAE Jordan Chapter. Also attending the meeting were Dr. Sahar Qaadan, Vice Dean for Scientific Research, and Ms. Dima Hamoudeh, an outstanding student.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the University and ASHRAE, reviewing the achievements and distinguished activities of the student branch, and exploring opportunities to develop initiatives and programs that support students and contribute to preparing highly qualified engineers capable of meeting labor market demands and keeping pace with modern engineering developments.
At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Bill McQuade, ASHRAE Global President, presented a special recognition award to GJU in appreciation of its outstanding role in supporting engineering education, empowering students, and continuously promoting professional and academic activities related to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and sustainability.
This visit reaffirms the strong partnership between GJU and ASHRAE, as well as the commitment of both parties to further enhancing cooperation in ways that serve students and the engineering sector at both the national and international levels.
