The German Jordanian University (GJU) has concluded the fourth International Conference on Applications in Sustainable Mobility, Renewable Energy, and Technology (SMART 2026), held as part of the GJU Future Tech Summit 2026. The conference brought together a wide range of researchers, academics, and experts from several countries to discuss the latest scientific and technological developments and showcase innovative research and solutions in sustainable mobility, renewable energy, and technology.
In his address at the closing ceremony, GJU President Professor Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli commended the efforts of the organizing committees and participants, expressing his appreciation for the opportunities the conference provided for networking, knowledge exchange, and sharing expertise. He emphasized the importance of sustaining collaboration among researchers and experts and strengthening joint efforts to develop solutions to future challenges, particularly in sustainability and technology.
For his part, Professor Ahmed Masmoudi, Chair of the Conference’s Technical Program Committee, reviewed its key outcomes, highlighting the value of diverse research contributions and collaboration among researchers and experts from different institutions and countries. Such cooperation, he noted, helps enhance research quality and expand opportunities for international scientific collaboration.
One of the conference participants noted that the number of research papers submitted for this edition exceeded that of previous conferences. He expressed his satisfaction with the level of participation and praised the outstanding organizational efforts of the German Jordanian University. He also highlighted the high quality of the submitted research, particularly in the Green Buildings and Cities track, where the strong and closely matched academic merit of the papers made the selection process especially challenging for the review committee. He explained that, following an extensive evaluation process, the committee decided to retain four research papers rather than limit the selection to two, in recognition of their scientific quality.
The closing ceremony also featured the recognition of keynote speakers and the winners of the Best Paper Awards across three main tracks: Electric Vehicle Systems and Drives, Green Buildings and Cities, and Sustainable Systems and Devices. Two additional awards were presented for Best Special Session and Outstanding Contribution to the Technical Program Committee. It was also announced that accepted research papers would be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, making the research findings accessible to the international scientific community.
The conference reflects GJU’s ongoing commitment to advancing applied scientific research, strengthening academic and industrial partnerships locally and internationally, and providing a platform for researchers and experts to exchange knowledge and develop innovative solutions that support sustainability and technological advancement.
