The German Jordanian University (GJU) hosted the Jordanian Universities Table Tennis Championship, with the participation of 22 public and private universities, over the course of three days from May 10–12, 2026. The championship was held in a highly competitive atmosphere and reflected the advanced level of university sports activities in Jordan.

The tournament witnessed broad participation from university students across Jordan, as male and female players competed in both team and individual categories, with remarkable sportsmanship and enthusiastic engagement.

The closing ceremony and award presentation were attended by Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, Dean of Student Affairs at the German Jordanian University, and Dr. Hazem Al-Nsour, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation and Dean of Student Affairs at Middle East University, in addition to the tournament director Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi, Assistant Dean for Sports Affairs.

The championship results were as follows:

In the male students’ team  championship, Jordan University of Science and Technology secured first place, followed by Yarmouk University in second place, while Applied Science Private University and The Hashemite University shared third place.

In the female students’  team championship, Applied Science Private University claimed first place, followed by Middle East University in second place, while Yarmouk University and Applied Science Private University shared third place.

In the Male’s individual championship, Abdullah Mufeed from the University of Jordan won first place, while Raed Al-Damisi from Princess Sumaya University for Technology came in second. Third place was shared by Waseem Abu Shanab from Jordan University of Science and Technology and Rashid Hayajneh from Applied Science Private University.

In the female’s individual championship, Renad Al-Husseini from the University of Jordan secured first place, followed by Batool Bassem from Applied Science Private University in second place. Third place was shared by Maryam Zakaria Hamdan from Al al-Bayt University and Batool Al-Rashdan from Jadara University.

It is worth noting that the German Jordanian University table tennis team delivered an outstanding performance during the championship, successfully qualifying for the quarterfinals after demonstrating strong competitiveness and excellent team spirit.

The university team was represented by students Zaid Al-Majali, Ali Al-Shaarawi, and Hashem Ababneh, under the coaching of Saddam Al-Halaybeh and supervised by Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi.

The German Jordanian University reaffirmed its continuous commitment to supporting sports activities and encouraging student participation in university championships, contributing to the development of teamwork, competitive spirit, and sports culture among university youth.
