The German Jordanian University (GJU) is proud to announce the launch of the High Diploma in Taxation program that will commence at the Business School in the first semester of academic year 2024/2025.

The foundation was laid for the High Diploma in Taxation program after signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GJU and the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) in March 2022. This MoU outlined a framework for collaboration and cooperation in various areas, with a primary focus on establishing a joint and comprehensive pedagogical framework for tax profession skill development.

This unique program is developed at the International Accounting Department in collaboration with national and international experts in taxation, accounting, public finance and law. Participants in H.D. in Taxation program will be equipped with a global perspective and professional knowledge, skills, and competencies in taxation. The program will employ a wide variety of learning approaches such as case study, demonstration, practical exercise, guided discussion, lecture, role play and research, to promote a vibrant learning environment. The degree program is scheduled to commence in the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025.

Prof. Alaaldeen Al-Halhouli, the president of GJU, commented that "the launch of the High Diploma in Taxation program underscores GJU's commitment to providing high-quality education that meets the needs of both private and public sectors." He added, “such a program is a testament to our commitment to an applied approach and partnership-based education. This initiative not only aligns perfectly with our strategic plan but also reflects our dedication to contributing to Jordan's Economic Modernization and Public Sector Modernization visions. Such a unique program has the potential to empower candidates not only from Jordan but also from the region in the area of public financial management and administration and to have an impact on the economic development trajectory."

Prof. Malek Alsharairi, the vice president of GJU and project lead of the program at the university, indicated that “this program represents a significant advancement in addressing Jordan's critical need for skilled tax professionals and strengthening the efficiency of its public revenue collection system. Through our local and international partnerships, the program’s curriculum is designed to cover key aspects of taxation and to ensure a vibrant learning environment that upskills prospective candidates for roles in tax practice, tax administration, or policy development.
