The President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, participated in the National Nuclear Science Exhibition 2026, organized by the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, with broad participation from universities and educational and research institutions across Jordan, showcasing innovative projects and ideas in the field of nuclear science and its applications.

The Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Khaled Toukan, honored the German Jordanian University in recognition of its efforts in promoting scientific awareness and supporting research and innovation.

The university’s participation featured a distinguished scientific project presented by student Sanad Abu Omeira, under the supervision of Dr. Ghaith Al-Refai from the School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS). The project aims to develop an innovative method for capturing xenon-135 from secondary gases in nuclear reactors using an advanced porous material (UiO-66) with high adsorption capacity and efficient reusability. The project also included computational simulations using the FLUKA software, in collaboration with the SESAME research center.

This participation reflects the German Jordanian University’s commitment to supporting its students and enabling them to engage in advanced research projects, contributing to the development of innovative scientific solutions that serve society and keep pace with global advancements in energy and technology.
