The International Affairs Department (IAD) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) hosted a student delegation from Avicenna-Studienwerk, Germany. The visit aimed to introduce the delegation to GJU, its academic environment, and the international opportunities it offers, while providing a platform for academic and intercultural exchange between the two sides.
The delegation comprised scholarship recipients at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, as well as doctoral students, representing a diverse range of academic disciplines, from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to the humanities and social sciences, in addition to medicine, law, and business.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Iyas Khader, GJU’s Vice President for Academic Excellence. The visit included a tour of the Nursing Labs, the Technology, Research, Innovation, Park (TRIP), and The Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), during which the delegation gained first-hand insight into GJU’s academic, research, and innovation facilities.
The delegation also received an introduction to GJU, IAD, and GJU’s German Dimension, delivered by Ms. Rand Alqatawneh and Mr. Saleem Abu Harb from IAD. This was followed by a series of presentations delivered by faculty members from various schools and departments.
The presentations were delivered by Dr. Walid Al Zyoud from the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS), Dr. Jamal Al Qundus from the Business School (BS) and DI-TECH, Dr. Bassmah AlTaher from the School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS), Dr. Suhad Subeih from the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA), and Dr. Mohammad Alzaatreh from the School of Nursing (SN). They highlighted the latest research developments and activities in their respective areas of expertise.
As part of the program, Prof. Dhiah el Diehn Abou-Tair delivered an introductory presentation on the EDU-SYRIA Project, highlighting the project’s work and impact. Representatives of Avicenna-Studienwerk also introduced the organization and its work, providing an opportunity for knowledge and experience exchange and opening a discussion on academic opportunities and developments in Jordan.
The visit concluded with a student meet-up organized by the German Club and GJU’s Public Relations Team, providing the delegation and GJU students with an opportunity to connect, exchange experiences, and strengthen communication in an interactive and intercultural setting.
The visit reflects GJU’s continued efforts to strengthen its international engagement, expand opportunities for academic and intercultural cooperation and exchange, and foster stronger connections with institutions and students in Germany.
