A training course by the Salt Development Corporation has been organized for local guides interested in taking advantage of Salt's recent listing on the World Heritage List. As part of this course, Professor Nizar Abu-Jaber, Director of CSNACH, conducted a one-day training event on the geology and geography of Salt and the surrounding areas. The training explained the geological history and evolution of Salt, and how it relates to the unique characteristics of the area. This includes the climate, physical geography, water resources, building materials, location as a transportation hub and so forth. It is hoped that this course will help raise awareness of the importance of geology in understanding the surrounding landscape and the resources that it contains.
